The AKK contingent
to NOAC 2004 left the Scout Office in Mauldin, SC about 11:30
am July 30 in a chartered bus with brothers from Santee and
Bob White Lodges. They returned about noon on Aug. 6th.
The AKK contingent
fits the theme of NOAC 2004: "Chosen to Serve, Inspired
to Lead". With 13 youth and 10 adults (5 are on
NOAC staff), AKK was well represented.

SATURDAY
The
logo for NOAC 2004 was revealed on July 31, and was based
on a picture (above, right) that famous Scouting artist Joseph
Csatari created for the cover of the OA Brotherhood ceremony
book in the 1960s.
NOAC
Today, the daily newspaper of NOAC, announced the Redneck
Games in the Saturday issue, with "watermelon parties" awarded
to the winning lodges. The NOAC opening show on Saturday
evening was entitled "Connect" and incorporates
high-end special effects to open with a bang!
The NOAC
2004 Trading Post allows online ordering of merchandise.
Arrowmen who could not attend NOAC can order things that are
not otherwise available.
SUNDAY
Revised
materials were released at NOAC 2004, including new Lodge
Leadership Development Conference training materials, OA Handbook,
and Field
Guide to Operations.
Ryan Bajan, AKK
Lodge Chief, looks cool in sunglasses and was quoted in the
"Man on the Street" column (page 7) in the Sunday issue of NOAC Today.
MONDAY
NOAC
was in full swing, with training, ceremony evaluations, high
adventure, and awards for lifetime service, Red Arrow (for
non-Arrowmen), and the Distinguished Service Award.

TUESDAY
Region
meetings were followed by The Grand Hodag (described in the Tuesday issue of NOAC Today) and NOAC shows.
A new "Leadership
in Service" award that Arrowmen can earn in 2005-2007
was announced.
WEDNESDAY
Atta
Kulla Kulla wins a NOAC 2004 Lodge
Spirit Award, NOAC 2004 Honor Website, Merit Lodge in the Lodge Historical Display
Competition, and placed third in Ultimate Frisbee. Individuals
from AKK also excelled in American Indian Affairs competitions:
Greg Bajan placed 4th in Straight Dance, Ryan Bajan placed
4th in Old Style, and Aric Wilkins placed 5th in Fancy Dance.
Ben Pochardt
was featured in a Man on the Street interview page (Doug Henry is our hero),
and Russell Smart was quoted on the front page of the Wednesday issue of NOAC Today.
