From: Brandon Miller,
AKK Vice Chief of Indian Affairs
The Atta Kulla Kulla Indian Affairs program seeks to preserve the customs and traditions of the Native American culture as well as the ideals that our organization was founded upon through powwow dancing and singing, as well as ceremonies for induction into the Order. Our lodge has maintained an excellent Indian Affairs program over the past few years, this can be seen in the multiple awards that we have won; such as at the 2007 Dixie Fellowship where our Drum team and Gourd Dance Team each took 3rd place in their respective competitions. Also at this past Dixie, we had 2 ceremonialists place in the top three for their parts, as well as an individual dancer who placed 1st for his style.
If you wish to get involved in the Indian Affairs program through Dance, Drum/Sing, or Ceremonies, contact the VCIA at vcia@akk185.org. Also for those wanting to get involved, Indian Affairs practices will be held the 2nd Sunday of every month, starting in November, at 2:00 at the Blue Ridge Council Scout Office. Practices last approximately one hour each.
I am willing to work with anyone interested in any aspect of Indian Affairs and I appreciate your interest.
Yours in WWW,
Brandon Miller
